Support the ON Campus Challenge

USD is one of 57 schools across the nation competing to be the "Most Outdoorsy" as part of the Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge. Currently we are in 8th place! We need your help to rise in the rankings! Go to oncampuschallenge.org and join the USD community by logging your outdoor activities.

For every 500 students, faculty, staff, and general community members who sign up, we will receive $500, up to $1,500 that will help us continue to grow our outdoor programming! Will you help us?

You don’t have to be a super intense backpacking, mountain-biking, adventure-racing outdoorist to participate! You’ve probably already had a couple opportunities to log some 30 minute outdoor activities today! A walk around campus at lunch, a swim at the pool, yoga outdoors, a trail run, or even sitting outside and watch the birds fly above the canyon qualify!

The Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge is about school communities and students joining together to see who can get the most people outside and active.

There are weekly prize raffles for participants and at the end of the six-week competition, someone at USD will be named the most outdoorsy person – winning $500 worth of outdoor gear from REI & The North Face.

If there are any groups that you work with that would be interested in helping out, please email markceder@sandiego.edu.

Leadership Coach Opportunity

This Fall, the Student Leadership, Involvement, and Changemaking (SLIC) area is launching a Leadership Coaching opportunity for undergraduate students. Participants will attend an orientation meeting and meet for two one-hour sessions with their coach. It is a short-term, but powerful experience to examine themselves through the lens of "Emotionally Intelligent Leadership" and introduce them to the idea of mentoring.

Interested students can register for the program via this link. Please forward this on to students you think would be a good match. Questions can be directed to Mandy Womack.

Torero Student Spotlight

Do you work with an amazing student on campus? Please nominate them to be featured on the SLIC website. Just send their name and email to Sinai Cota. For any further inquiries, please contact Sinai.

The Student Affairs Newsletter is back in full swing! If you would like to contribute to the newsletter, please email Kenny Eng by Wednesday at noon for inclusion in the next newsletter.
